Alex and Alexa Theophanous and Camilla Batmanghelidjh launch Global Kids Fashion Week
Children's charity, Kids Company, is to launch Global Kids Fashion Week in London in association with online children's fashion retailer, and winner of Junior Design Award for best online fashion retailer 2011 and 2012, AlexandAlexa.com.
The news was announced last night at the press preview of the AlexandAlexa.com spring summer 2013 collections.
The inaugural event will take place from March 18-20, 2013 with the main show location to be the Freemasons Hall.
The show schedule will feature two main shows, an exclusive media and VIP event previewing autumn/winter 2013 collections, and a second ticketed event for the public showcasing looks for spring/summer 2013 from AlexandAlexa.com. A full schedule of events is yet to be released.
We are hoping to see both upcoming and established designer labels, which are stocked at AlexandAlexa.com, including Marni, Hucklebones, Pepe, Burberry Monnalisa and Dolce & Gabanna, hit the catwalk.
Kids Company was founded in 1996 by Camila Batmanghelidjh, who attended and spoke at the launch event. The charity provides practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children.
Batmanghelidjh spoke about how when a child reaches care, the first thing they need is food and the second is usually clean clothing. All profits will go straight to Kids Company, to provide funding for these neccessities.
Alex Theophanous, co-founder of AlexandAlexa.com, spoke about how they were 'proud' to be bringing a world of fabulous children's fashion to London, mirroring similar events in Italy, Mumbai, Australia and the USA.
Tickets will be available for the public to purchase and attend the fashion week. All profits will go straight to Kids Company.
The event is also being held in association with the V&A Museum of Childhood. Look out for more details, coming soon!
