Who's Next Competition winners

Today the winners of the Whose on Next competition were announced at Pitti Bimbo 72, the competition organised by Pitti Immagine, AltaRoma and Vogue Bambini to find new talent based in Italy in the children fashion market.

Yesterday I was invited onto the judging panel and we met all the finalists and listened to their design philosophy and explanation of their collections, the winner of the Pret a Porter category was Josiane Strocchi Fabiani who launched her concept of interactive fashion with panels of different fabrics that can make a dress mix and match for alternate colourways and her idea of baked biscuit buttons where the child participates in the creation of the garment.

The winner of the Accessory category was Michela Grassetti who gave a modern interpretation to shoe design classics using new textures, colourways and by boiling leather shoes in a washing machine to achieve a aged soft finish. We feel she has the potential to develope into a great talent.

All the participants had worked very hard to present their collections and all had items of worth so it will be interesting to see their future developements.
