Turning Japanese

It was a tour de force of origami inspired box pleats at lots of SS12 shows. Organic label Aravore took its cue from the Japanese kimono for AW11; we particularly loved the plain cotton dresses adorned with wide obi belt sashes. The trend continues into summer with the inclusion of drop waisted pleated dresses. New York based label Little Esop showed some gorgeous and daring pleats on dresses. We love this mustard yellow colour, as also spotted at Sprout by Gro and Milla Moo. One to watch out for is newcomer to CPH Kids, the Japanese label, Fafa, which Junior's fashion director described as conjuring a 'bright, junky kaleidoscope world'.
