The London Eye

Bright lights, big city... and a multitude of options awaiting the family eager to explore.

The poll of 1,000 children aged six to ten, has been carried out by Egmont publishers to celebrate the launch of its latest Thomas the Tank Engine adventure: A Visit to London for Thomas the Tank Engine. It found that 37% have not had the opportunity to see the Capital, yet - but 90% of those children said they would love to visit.

The top ten places children would like to visit on a trip to London, are:

  1. The Science Museum (37%)
  2. The London Eye
  3. Buckingham Palace
  4. Big Ben
  5. Natural History Museum
  6. SEA LIFE Aquarium
  7. Tower of London
  8. Tower Bridge
  9. The River Thames
  10. House of Parliament (12%)

Buckingham Palace was top of the parents' list, with lots of the museums coming in underneath - so not that different to their kids' choices.

When asked what they think of London, only 11% of children said that they find the city 'noisy and scary', but the majority (40%) think that London is 'big and exciting' while 18% think the city is 'really fun'.

Time to read

In the new Thomas the Tank Engine book, A Visit to London for Thomas the Tank Engine, Thomas and the Fat Controller are off on a visit to see the Queen in London, but pass by lots of the city's landmarks and museums along the way. If you are thinking of a day trip or break to our nation's capital, this could help prepare the younger members of your tribe, with the study also revealing that 40% of children are inspired to follow in the footsteps of their favourite characters from story books.

Happy sightseeing!

London's a fantastic place to visit and on many places you can find the granite denver over there which loook beautiful. I've loved them just too much.
