For ten days, the streets will be abuzz with activity, including choreographed shopping-trolley dancing at Canary Wharf, breathtaking evening displays in Mile End Park, and a modern spin on Greenwich’s Dickensian fair, with a huge programme of performing arts.

Times and locations vary: See website for details. Cost: Free. All ages. Tel: 020 8305 1818; www.festival.org
