The Battle Of Hastings
September 15–16
Soak up the atmosphere of a medieval battlefield as the infamous Battle Of Hastings is re-enacted before your very eyes at Hasting Abbey. This afternoon of historical hi-jinx will also include a Norman cavalry display, ancient weaponry, falconry displays and archery sessions for young knights-in-waiting.

Glow Wild In The Dark
September 16
Pack a torch and get wildlife hunting at Brush Hill Nature Reserve during this twilight walk around the site. The whole family can discover the creatures that emerge as the sun sets and play fun nature games accompanied by a wildlife expert during this exciting evening adventure.

Apple Weekend
September 17–18
Make the most of the glorious British apple season and pay a visit to the organic garden at Audley End House for a weekend of apple themed activities, stalls and refreshments. Pick up useful gardening tips, watch demonstrations of traditional country crafts and seasonal cookery and indulge in a variety of delicious apple based treats. 

Autumn Harvest At Woodhuish

Join the good folks at Coleton Fishacre, Devon for their first apple press of the year using a restored Victorian cider press. Sample the local crop or bring along some of your own apples to make juice, watch sheep dog demonstrations and get involved in traditional crafts. 

Pumpkin Fun Day

A day of games and activities dedicated to that most warming of seasonal fare, the pumpkin. Have a go at carving your own lantern, learn pumpkin facts and feast on comforting autumnal dishes in the tea room at Trengwainton garden, Cornwall.

English Heritage has recently restored the magnificent landscaped gardens at Wrest Park after decades behind closed doors. The autumn season is the perfect time to enjoy the wildlife and colours this secret garden has to offer so pack a picnic and seek out the wooded walks and canals as well as newly opened Italian and rose gardens.

Once the refuge of Mary Tudor before she became queen, Framlingham Castle is an imposing 12th century fortress steeped in history and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Wear your walking shoes and take the family on a scenic stroll along the castle walls for perfect views of the early evening autumn sunset.
