Winner of the Picture Book Of The Year 2012: Press Here by Hervé Tullet
How a simple dot can turn into an amazing adventure with French artist, Hervé Tullet
Press Here is full of playful surprises, as colourful spots multiply, change colour, swirl and twirl across the pages in a balletic folk dance of intricate ins and outs. For the child, the ultimate beauty is that he’s in charge: by acting on the narrator’s instructions, it’s him who seems to be making magical things happen to the spots as he turns the pages. Alongside this playfulness, the book also encourages hand-eye coordination, memory skills, counting, colour recognition and learning left and right. That’s a whole lot of learning – and all from a cast of seemingly simple dancing dots.
