They Say:

CBeebies Storytime is a free story book app designed for young children and their parents. Just open the book to discover a world of stories featuring much-loved CBeebies characters; such as Charlie and Lola, Show Me Show Me, The Octonauts and many more.

CBeebies Storytime makes reading fun, with playful and imaginative stories designed to delight and help support early years reading. Entertaining things to touch, swipe and play with in each story and questions to help develop comprehension skills, means parents and little ones can enjoy reading, playing and learning together.

•The CBeebies Storytime app is designed specifically for children and parents; creating a high quality, magical and engaging experience on touch-screen devices that also supports early year’s development. It was essential for us to incorporate a traditional book into the design of the app to help inspire a genuine interest in reading books and allow children to delight in the wonder of stories.

•The app has been beautifully crafted to harness the tactile touch-screen and native features of handheld devices to make reading even more engaging and enjoyable! The app was also created to be completely offline to allow active families to enjoy reading ‘on the go’ or wherever they are.

•CBeebies is dedicated to lighting up little learners and advocating learning through play through the unique and colourful world of CBeebies characters. CBeebies is passionate about providing content to our dual audience, of children, parents and carers and is unique in delivering public value via the highest quality, engaging and covetable digital experiences.

•The app includes a dedicated 'Grown-Ups' section, featuring tips for discerning parents and carers to support their child’s reading development. We worked closely with an educational consultant to help make these really helpful for parents.

• CBeebies Storytime builds on the tradition of storytelling, bringing it into the digital era for little fingers, specifically designed and beautifully crafted for a young audience. Storytime provides a desirable digital experience in which to enjoy reading and playing together as a family, in safe and trusted environment.

Judges Comments:

"Children will love seeing the familiar characters in a storybook format. The parents area is informative and helpful and the design is slick. Even better, the app is free -  a must-download for every family tablet device."
