WHO: RHS I CAN GROW A SUNFLOWER
WHAT: A beautifully illustrated board book introducing children to nature and the environment and teaching them how to plant and nurture a seed. The story includes all the ladybirds, busy worms, and the visiting bees and butterflies who help the sunflower to grow to be the tallest of garden flowers.
WHY: In a world where children are often far more tuned into technology than nature the judges all felt that this gentle book focusing on the magical journey of a simple sunflower seed was a great read. Encouraging kids to go outside and get hands on in the garden and take notice of the plants and creatures around them, this book would make the perfect gift for budding horticulturists. Our mini-influencer Amazing Arabella approved and said it was "Educational and would help children understand more about the environment."

WHY: Our judges were extremely impressed by this interfaith book produced by a Muslim publisher, a Jewish Author and a Christian illustrator all with the common goal of encouraging love and acceptance. The panel felt that the book successfully demystified religion and filled a major gap in the market to help educate children on the subject of religious tolerance from a young age. Junior Editor Bonita Turner said, "This book should be in every school library and on every bookshelf at home. I really hope it becomes one of those classics that all kids remember from their childhoods and beyond."
