Rachel Allen, author of Rachel's Favourite Food and mother of Josh, 10, Lucca, seven, and Scarlett Lily, one reveals her foodie secrets
What’s your earliest food memory? I do remember being taught to milk a cow when I was about five.
What was the first thing you ever cooked? Biscuits with my sister and mum.
How did it taste? I’m sure I thought it was delicious, even eaten raw from the bowl.
What’s your perfect family dinner? Really good roast chicken with roasted or mashed potatoes, purple sprouting broccoli or kale and lashings of gravy.
What’s the best way to tempt a fussy eater? Get them to grow it or pick it themselves.
What’s the perfect festival food? Roasted pig on a spit in a soft white roll with lots of crackling and apple sauce.
Your favourite recipe? It completely depends on my mood. It could be anything from roasted duck legs with lentils to chocolate fudge recipe.
