Why is good design important to you?
Good designs make a real difference to everyday life, whether it's the clothes you wear or the products you use.
What qualities do you look for when buying well-designed products for your home?
Most of my purchases over the past few years have been for my children so they have to be durable, practical and reasonably priced.
How have you changed the way you shop for things in your home, while still retaining design quality?
I do a lot more shopping online. Certain items are not child friendly so I do view furniture differently. Plus we need new sofas but I'm sticking with the old ones until the boys are older!
Do you have any treasured family heirlooms?
I'm not sure it counts but we have a lovely christening robe that everyone in the family has worn for the past few generations. Hopefully future generations will wear it too.
What piece of great design do you wish you had invented?
I have a great device that I got from a wine farm in South Africa that you pop onto a bottle of champagne once you've opened it to keep it fizzy.
What were you most looking forward to about being a Junior Design Awards judge for the day?
Looking at all the family related products out there – although the baby ones made me a little broody!
