The sundress was a big trend at Pitti this season – and Monnalisa was a key player, with the demure Fifties look its prominent theme. Sundresses had a prom feel, decorated with check trims, tassels and large floral prints. Embellishments were, as always with Monnalisa, prominent: bows with check trims, net corsages and lace details looking good on hemlines and sleeves. Girls’ wear from its mainline collection was the main feature with only a few offerings from the casual diffusion line Jakioo – daysuits crafted in jersey and decorated with Warner Bros cartoon icons. Last season’s introduction of boyswear also continued with soft-tailored jackets in cottons and the diffusion lines taking inspiration from this season’s biggest trend, sportswear.
