Junior reports on the latest catwalk shows at Pitti Bimbo: Monnalisa
Monnalisa presented the last collection of the day, hosting a cocktail party, followed by their catwalk presentation. The show opened with the brand's fairly new boyswear collection titled 'Hitchhiker', which showcased a variety of winter looks with tones of comic-book hero Popeye. The prominent theme was layering, which looked good and slightly Japenese street style. The silhoutte of the boyswear was loose and tailoring looked comfy and cosy.
The girlswear collection carried on the theme of SS10 collection and ventured back to the golden era of the Fifties, this time in an autumnal pallette of darks and weighty fabrics such as wools, tweeds and velvets. Prom skirts and a-line dresses were decorated with oversized polka dots and frills, worn over voluminous petticoats to give a floaty feel. The collection managed to escape looking too post-modern as silhouttes were accesorised with the fluffiest Yeti snowboots we've seen, alongside playful pom poms and cartoon characters - for the girls, it was Popeye's missus, Olive Oil.
