Oh, what a treat we had at Monnalisa... Tables in the entrance hallway strewn with the most delicious soft centre chocolates, the occasional glass of Prosecco inbetween - we must have gobbled at least a Milk Tray box worth before we even got to the catwalk. I never realised Italian chocolate could taste so good!
The catwalk show opened with the boyswear label, Hitch-Hiker, which is gathering strength each season; layered looks with tweedy waistcoats, large checked muted coloured scarves and skinny rolled-up jeans with mustard yellow socks and dual colour loafers led the way.
As at other labels, orange was still a key bright colour used over skinny jeans, laces in brogues and highlights of graphic print T-shirts. There was a great faux shearling boys jacket with ribbed knit sleeves teamed with a Nordic patterned knitted scarf and cap, lumberjack checks and large quilted jackets.
The girlswear labels, Nylon, Jackioo and Monnalisa started off casual with black and white stripe layers and grey sweat pants. Faux sheepskin was used for furry accessories; bags, scarves , mini capes and legwarmers.
Jackioo showed deep raspberry layered tulle skirts and fun, fur mini capes and jackets with contrasting bright yellow socks, boucle knit cardigans held together with skinny belts and mixed pattern spotty scarves. Biker chic boots had glittered top halves and spotted silk was used for puffball skits, tops and headscarves.
There was a cute animal print of a deer against a black satin background, lots of faux fur for hats and jackets and even a quilted coat with an 8-inch fur border.
The younger Monnalisa line had a softer, sweeter feel with pastel shades mixed with tweed and floral motifs; a little bit 'Russian princess' wrapped up in her winter padded layers. Spots were also strong throughout this section. The older Monnalisa line showed a sophisticated blend of navy shift dresses and sparkling navy tulle skits, black and grey cabbage rose prints, used for dresses, skirts and leggings, and a beige and red rose print mixed with leopard leggings and accessories.
