Miss Grant opened their SS12 catwalk show with beachwear - swimwear, sun dresses and sarongs were, of course, in abundance decorated with textured frills, tassels, feathers and an array of brights - sorbet pink, lime green and canary yellows. A beautiful sundress decorated with tassles and feathers dyed in flouro-shades looked very 'fun on the beach'.
Daywear looked to America for inspiration, with shades of the star-spangled banner - red, white and blue. Cheerleader ra ra skirts were matched with sparkly red waistcoats, striped T-shirts were styled with large red rosettes and a check blue tunic worn with a red biker jacket epitomised the North American 'can-do' spirit - it was a fitting time to introduce the debut boyswear collection 'Grant Garcon'. The boys were dressed as though from a perfect, East Coast, upperclass American family with preppy knitted tanks and shorts fashioned in stripes, smart cotton shirts and slouchy T-shirts and polos.
The show closed with couture and, as seen previously at Elsy, the inspiration came from the Royal Wedding of the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge - punctuated by a pallette of whites, the main focus was the attention to details - silk dresses were left with raw edges, blouses were cut in French lace and frilled chiffon skirts and dresses moved beautifully on the catwalk. The finale look was a very happy looking 'bridesmaid-to-be', dressed in a shoulderless silk and chiffon sundress with lace and applique detailing.
