As news broke of John Galliano’s return to fashion, via a short-term residency with Oscar de la Renta, the Junior fashion team settled down to watch his winter childrenswear collection catwalk show.
The James Bond theme tune played loud into the catwalk arena, the transformed Stazione Leopolda. Models appeared through a keyhole shaped entrance and made their way down the catwalk with various items alluding to a spy, detective and superhero theme.
The Gazette-style newspaper print, which has been a constant throughout Galliano’s childrenswear collections, was still present. Faded orange, petrol blue and antique pink are the chosen colourways for winter 2013 girlswear.
A padded gilet with furry trim teamed with coral skinny jeans was a standout look. A moustache print made for a comical addition.
Deep red was the notable colour for boys, teamed with petrol blue and camel and a tartan red check Gazette print. In addition to the multiple puffa jackets teamed with patent ankle boots, there was a smart grey and black panel wool blazer and secret agent style leather jackets.
Another print for girls was a black and pink dogtooth. This alluded to the 1960s decade with shapes including shift dresses and pleated mini skirts. We also noted longline furry gilets, which we had spotted at other catwalk shows.
The final look for boys was fit for superhero wannabes, with ice blue, cartoon yellow and orange as the colour theme. Ready to wear knits, sweatshirts and reversible T-shirts mean your adventurer will be ready for stylish action in a jiffy!
