Junior reports on the latest catwalk shows at Pitti Bimbo: Ice Iceberg
The stage was set, quite literally, for a live gig with Marshall amps, a drum kit, guitars and microphones set, the words ICE ICEBERG emblazoned in red neons lights. The band arrived - young guns with a rock 'n' roll attitude - and kicked off with "So glad you made it! Gimme some lovin'" amid a dramatic haze of dry ice. It was a dramatic start, but not without its hazards for the first models down the catwalk who had to wave their way through the smoke, and walked past the band with their hands over their ears. In keeping with the band, the style on the catwalk was also very grunge meets rock, with grey flannel cargo pants, biker boots and de rigueur tassled scarves tied nonchalantly on the boys. There were duffle coats, and leather jackets with studded belts and cuffs, demin pinafores for the girls teamed with grey and red striped tights. A cheeky casual look for the girls was a chunky poncho worn over mini denim shorts and yeti boots. The detail was in the fringing on the hems and sleeves of jackets, leopard print belts and accents of pink sparkles on black and denims, as well as fluffy Lurex knits. Playfulness was added with cartoon cat motifs - a grinning Tom (but no sign of Jerry) in a soft palette of grey and pale yellow.
The band sang us out again with a noisy punk rendition of What A Wonderful World as giant red and white balloons fell from the sky, giving the models another chance to dance and bop.
