Gucci SS12 report
Junior preview the new SS12 Gucci childrenswear collection
Gucci showed the summer 2012 childrenswear line at it's super-smart headquarters in Florence last week.
The line has extended its age range due to requests from customers, so is now available up to age 14. It had previously stopped at age eight but the older age range makes sense, especially for it's signature leather jackets in soft grey and tan for boys and purple and soft green for girls.
There is a whole host of dip-dye that perfectly reflects the adult range, and a gorgeous version of the silk jumpsuit for girls, which womenswear designer, Frida Giannini, loves and apparently lives in.
Interestingly Gucci is one of the few designer megabrands to have a direct link from it's website for customers to buy the children's collection online. Childrenswear is often nowhere to be seen on large fashion house websites.
The baby Gucci range is strong and is often identified by touches of the signature Gucci stripe. There is a great silk dress with a buckled monogrammed belt and we love the new fish-shaped handbag. Other new items include a bathing towel range with hooded decoration - a shark for the boys and a fish for girls. We also spotted a sweet pair of snaffle decorated wellies for toddlers and a new ceremony line with a tailored look for boys and a peach chiffon one-shoulder dress for girls.
