Gucci fall 2012 presentation report
Junior reports from Pitti Bimbo
Showing at it's headquarters in Florence, over the river from the main Pitti exhibition, a relaxed atmosphere greeted the press and buyers at the presentation of the Gucci winter childrenswear collection for 2012.
This is a label synonymous with luxury and impeccably made goods, so it is not surprising to see lots of leather and fur in this particular collection. There is a sumptuous pale blue inside-out sheepskin coat, which is so soft to touch - like wearing a baby's sheepskin rug around you - fur trims on boy's parka jackets and biker leather jackets in black, hot pink and in mustard too.
The signature brown 'double-G' logo features heavily over the collection as does the red and dark green of the Gucci stripe on whole garments, and as details.
Pleats are used over dresses, skirts and blouses and double-G detailing appear on knitted ski sweaters and stamped onto satin padded jackets, and in a chain pattern on shearling coats and leather and suede shoes.
Bright red is the common colour here linking wool jackets, a knitted cape, a cute baby dress with chain print in white and booties, scarves and bags throughout. There is also a periwinkle blue, navy, lots of grey and beige.
In keeping with one of the key Pitti Bimbo trends of the season Gucci have made a knitted ear muff, many of which were seen on the catwalks this year; just make sure your offspring doesn't leave them behind in a restaurant!
