The two key trends for Gucci Winter 2013 childrenswear are a 'Scottish flair' and 'Fifties charm'.
The Gucci winter girlswear collection justifiably oozes '50s charm. The drop waists that we saw for the summer 2013 season are back with a vengeance, this time on a particularly eye-catching optical illusion print dress.
Another standout piece is the carousel horse print silk dress, with drop waist, pleated skirt and short puff sleeve. The flared skirt-shape, seen at Gucci in purple, is one of the most popular shapes of the season.
The outerwear is also eye-catching. A headless mannequin wears a leopard print coat, matched with black leggings quilted at the knee, in a casually cool kind of way. Another red coat, with cinched in waist, has a furry leopard print collar. A cosy mink-fur coat is set to blow the budget at a rumoured £11,000.
The ‘Scottish flair’ is evident in a green tartan check, double-breasted coat with large lapels, teamed with skinny forest green jeans and a blue roll-neck jumper. The traditional theme is continued in the accessories, with tartan check bow ties.
A grey tweed suit with lion crest badge brings a country estate feel to the collection. The slim-line cut is reminiscent of fifties silhouettes.
For daywear, chino-cargo trousers in cream are turned up at the ankle and teamed with flat cap and double-breasted cotton coat, complete with snuggly shearling lining.
Babywear (0-36 months)
For baby girls, we love the bird print top. Layered underneath a beige cord dress, the detail is intricate and pretty.
There is a collection of baby grow gift sets for boy and girl, which are sports themed and in a set of seven. As well as a herd of bold jungle animal prints over baby bibs.
The much-loved star print from the summer season is making a comeback for winter. This time a splash of neon has been added. We love the rainbow colour soft knit berets and scarves and cute tartan bow ties.
