The second show on Pitti's busy catwalk schedule is homegrown Italian girlswear label Elsy, better known in Italy than the UK, but a big driving force in Italy's thriving childrenswear industry.
Elsy Girl introduced their SS13 collection, inspired by modern romanticism, which focused on pretty party dresses. Daring sorbet colours were shown over classic sun dresses and bold digital prints of floral patterns decorated sixties-inspired slip dresses. Fabrics in the collection were perhaps more traditional than modern, Organza, georgette, poplin and cotton muslin were used in force.
Daywear focused on floral prints with a modern twist. Traditional dresses and blouses were decorated with bright and clashing prints that gave the collection that modern feel, cut in poplin, georgette and jersey.
The last outfits ventured to the Riveria for inspiration. Black and white photographic prints were shown over T-shirts and dresses. Patterns and floral in a monochrome colour pallet punctuated dresses and accessories. Trousers and jeggings were sent out in array of bold brights.
The collection echoed the glamour of the fifties, the Muse being the beautiful Audrey Hepburn, who famously said, "My look is attainable".
