Elsy catwalk report
Spring/Summer ’10 Pitti Bimbo
FOR ELSY, IT initially seemed that it was going to be the summer of love. Their catwalk is branded with ‘Elsy’ spelt in flowers. This theme is certainly extended to some of the collection, particularly a dreamy prairie-style summer dress and top, but rather unusually for a girls’ summer collection, black features strongly, albeit alongside brighter whites. A black hoodie with cuffed sleeves over a white T-shirt, a black quilted ski jacket over white tailored trousers and a blouse with a pussy bow.
T-shirts sport slogans stating Life Begins Now and Change Your Look, perhaps as a nod to Katharine Hamnett – although Miss Hamnett would never decorate her slogans in diamanté crystals.
Last summer’s trend for ice-cream colours also crept in on a multitude of jeans and trousers, although refreshingly these did avoid the skinny silhouette and opted for looser fits. The more elegant edge to the collection and a hint of the romantic came with floating A-line tops and those floral prairie dresses
