The mood is casual and mellow as ever at Calvin Klein Jeans, played out to a Motown-inspired soundtrack featuring vintage Marvin Gaye, Al Green, a touch of Stevie Wonder and a warble from Diana Ross (Was it really this time last year that we were all mourning the death of Michael Jackson?).
The stage is stark in snow white with giant CK snowball: four models in blue jeans and crisp white shirts take their places at the side of the stage, as a procession of children strut down the catwalk, showing CKJ's signature cool and comfortable casuals.
There are jeans of every style and description from knee-length shorts to tapered or skinny, jeans skirts for the girls and the cutest barefooted toddlers. Calvin always brings out the youngest stars for his catwalk shows, to the delighted 'aahs' of the audience. The palettes are mostly subdued - white and navy, with plenty of checks and flashes of red and fuchsia pink for the girls. The monogrammed CJK is on everything from hoodies to hats and sparkles in sequins on T-shirts.
As the last catwalk show of the 71st edition of Pitti Bimbo, Calvin Klein Jeans made a fitting finale - and, as the models gathered on stage for their final curtain call, all wearing in variations of blue jeans and white shirts, they certainly showcased a jeans look fitting for every occasion.
