Millicent And Meer by Richard Byrne (Simon & Schuster, £5.99)

When Millicent finds a creature in a box marked “Meerkat”, she thinks she has found a cat called Meer. Meer is happy to be the girl’s new pet, except he’s not very good at behaving like a cat and her father isn’t too happy. Then Meer meets Marvin the real cat who shows him the ropes of feline life. Whilst fleeing from a dog one day, they discover Meer’s true identity – on a poster for the local safari park! A sweet story about belonging, with a happy ending for everybody.
