Daisy And The Trouble With Christmas by Kes Gray (Red Fox, £4.99)

Christmas has Daisy worked into a frenzy of excitement – there’s the fairy lights, the greetings cards and the prospect of presents. Topping Daisy’s list is a bike that fires torpedoes. And thrill of thrills, Daisy’s class is putting on a nativity play. But, as ever in Daisy’s world, things go a little awry, giving this irrepressible heroine cause to utter her famous refrain, “The trouble with...” Vibrant, cartoon-style illustrations by Nick Sharratt help speed this energetic tale to its comic and calamitous climax.
