Five cosy reads for chilly days
When it's coming down outside, curl up with your child and a good book
Flora's Very Windy Day by Jeanne Birdsall and Matt Phelan (Clarion, £10.99)
Swirling swooshing watercolour illustrations perfectly capture the mood of this whimsical tale about a little girl and her brother who are carried off by a great gusty wind. As the fantasy-tinged story progresses, the charmingly petulant Flora discovers that although she outwardly wishes to lose her brother in the breeze, she may not be quite as willing for him to disappear as she once thought. A great read for feisty little girls with pretty and genuinely evocative artwork.
