Junior rounds up the best new children's books for November 2014
The First Hippo On The Moon looks set to become another modern classic by comedian and actor David Walliams. It’s a wonderfully charming tale about a hippopotamuswho is desperate to be the first of her kind on the moon, but she’s not the only hippo who is after the accolade.
David Walliams is rapidly turning into a force to be reckoned within the world of children’s literature. This is the comedian’s second picture book, having already published seven novels for slightly older children. Working alongside illustrator Tony Ross, who collaborated with David on his first picture book, The Slightly Annoying Elephant, The First Hippo On The Moon is what we’ve come to expect from the eccentric TV star – its riotously funny, incredibly silly and with a wonderfully uplifting message to never give up trying to follow your dreams.
