Junior rounds up the best new children's books for February 2015
By now Ant and Bee surely need no introduction. The book series, written by Angela Banner and first published in 1950, was originally devised to help the author teach her son how to read. Now 65 years later, the pocket-sized books are just as popular as they have ever been for teaching young children literacy and numeracy.
Ant and Bee and the Secret, and Ant and Bee Count 123 have been reissued to engage and educate the next generation of little ones. Filled with fun illustrations and instructions for parents as to how to use the books to help teach their child. The premise is simple but incredibly effective – the adult reads the black words and the child joins in the storytelling by saying the words written in red. It’s the most fun and entertaining teaching technique there is.
