Snow Day by Richard Curtis and Rebecca Cobb (Puffin, £10.99)

Award-winning writer and director Richard Curtis has another string to add to his bow with the publication of his second children’s book, Snow Day. Anyone familiar with his film Love Actually knows that the writer/director has a soft spot for all things Christmassy, which was the motivation behind his first book The Empty Stocking.

Proving himself to be a dab hand at writing engaging books for children aged four and up, Snow Day is set to be another hit with young readers. The main character is a rather naughty and incredibly identifiable young boy called Danny, who finds himself stuck at school with his least favourite teacher Mr Trapper. With gorgeous illustration courtesy of Rebecca Cobb (who collaborated with Curtis on The Empty Stocking), Snow Day is set to be another classic that you’ll love reading together over the festive period.
