Eddie's Garden and How To Make Things Grow by Sarah Garland (Frances Lincoln, £6.99)

Told through a fictional narrative about a toddler and his older brother tending to their garden, this gentle tale manages to weave some basic gardening tips and recommendations in to the storyline. Sweet characters and a witty juxtaposition between the hard working older boy and insular toddler make this as good a bedtime story as it is beginners gardening book.
