How to improve your child’s fine motor skills
Get those little fingers moving with these top tips
1. Sorting
Gather a collection of small objects such as buttons, pennies or paper clips and ask your child to sort them into piles.
2. Dressing
Let your child help to get herself dressed in the mornings – clothing fastenings like poppers, zips, buttons and ties will all test her dexterity.
3. Drawing
Using a chubby crayon or pencil, ask your child to draw long straight lines or circles which join up. Once this has been mastered she can graduate to dot-to-dot drawings and colouring in within the lines.
