Shaker heart

A love-filled centrepiece for your table or to hang in your cupboard

Materials
57x50cm striped cotton fabric (such as Forbury Stripe £38 from Laura Ashley)
Small amount of linen
Button
Wadding/dried lavender
Wire
Bay leaves
Ribbon.

How to make
Cut out two heart shapes from the cotton fabric or use these templates. Cut a small square of linen and fray the edges. Place this in the centre of one of the hearts and stitch a button in place through both thicknesses of fabric. Place the heart shapes right sides together and stitch round, leaving a gap for turning. Turn right sides out, stuff with wadding or dried lavender and stitch closed. Push wire through the centre of the heart and thread with bay leaves. Wrap the wire around a bottle or jar or add a ribbon to hang
