You will need:

  • 50 x 30cm blue gingham
  • 30cm of thin white lace
  • Matching sewing thread
  • Red embroidery thread

1. Using the template (download it here), cut one apron and one pocket from the gingham fabric. Cut a 50 x 5cm rectangle for the waistband and a 16 x 4cm rectangle for neck strap.

2. Turn under, press and topstitch a 1cm hem all round the apron. Fold the waistband and neckstrap in half lengthways. Turn under and press a 1cm hem along the long edges. Stitch all the way round. Attach the ends of the neckstrap to the sides of the bib and add the waistband centrally across the apron.

3.Along curved side of pocket, clip notches into the seam allowance. Turn under, press and topstitch a 1cm hem all round. Position the pocket on the apron skirt, pin and work neat blanket stitches in red embroidery thread around curve.

4. Trim neck edge and hem of the apron with lengths of white lace.
